Working with DandyCo, I was asked to illustrate the cover of this year’s Farm Guide, produced by Seattle Tilth Alliance. This was a rewarding and detailed project that pushed the limits of my computer hardware.
Every day, millions of Native Americans live without validation of their ancestry because the federal tribal recognition system doesn’t recognize them as “native enough.” I wanted to shed some light the scale of the issue—on just how many unrecognized tribes could be found on the West Coast.
Libraries have a long history in Seattle, with the earliest efforts for a library beginning in 1868. Since 1890, The Seattle Public Library has maintained a collection now totaling in the millions of volumes across all kinds of media.
